Initiation into Psychoanalysis

The first module of our course is dedicated to the study of several basic themes of psychoanalysis. You will learn about what is psychoanalysis, about its purpose, about the psychoanalytic methods of exploration of the unconscious mind, the Oedipus complex and infantile sexuality. Lesson 7 explains what are the reasons which lead us to psychoanalysis and the bonus paper responds to the legitimate question if psychoanalysis is still actual. This module ends with a self evaluation test (not mandatory) that helps you test your acquired knowledge.

Psychoanalysis may be said to have been born with the twentieth century; for the publication in which it emerged before the world as something new - my Interpretation of Dreams - bears the date "1900". But, as may well be supposed, it did not drop from the skies ready-made. It had its starting-point in older ideas, which it developed further; it sprang from earlier suggestions, which it elaborated.
